Open Art is a program of free events presenting contemporary Visual Arts practice, taking place in the exhibition space at the Johnston Central Library, Cavan throughout Winter/Spring 2010. This program aims to make visible a diversity of contemporary Visual Arts practices by inviting Arts professionals to share insight into the development of their practice through presentations and talks and to impart expertise in their specific area through additional showcasing, workshops and discussion. Contributing Arts professionals have been invited from the areas of Arts in Health, Arts in Education and Curatorship, from artist-led initiatives, studio practice and collaborative practice.

The events run fortnightly on Saturday mornings, from 11.30am to 1.00pm. The events are designed not only for the Visual Arts community but also for the broader Arts community and for all members of the public with an interest in what the Visual Arts has to offer and how Visual Arts practice is developing in Ireland.

Schedule: February 6th – Andy Parsons, February 20th – Karen Downey, March 6th – Helene Hugel, March 20th – Aideen Barry, March 27th – Create National Development Agency for Collaborative Arts, April 10th – Jole Bortoli and April 24th – Ben Geoghegan.
